The Summer Reading Book Discussion Group met for the first time on Wed. June13 to talk about Harris & Me by Gary Paulsen. It was a spirited discussion ranging from the manner in which Paulsen had used his own life experiences in this fiction book to how the title had come to be chosen. The latter is a good point! This is the first Summer Reading Book Discussion Group, and there's so much to learn. It's my impression that group members would like input into the titles chosen, and perhaps next year an additional meeting could be scheduled early in the summer so that the group can choose the books to be discussed. What do you think? What other ways could the dicussion group change?
